I'm Off!! Goodbye Canada, Hello Africa!!

"I dreamed of going to Africa....then, one day, it happened..." Dr. Jane Goodall

So this is it! In about an hour I will embarking on the trip I have dreamed of my entire life! Boy, now I really know the excitement Dr. Jane must have felt when she said the above quote! I will be flying first to Amsterdam and then on to Entebbe, Uganda to begin my work with the Jane Goodall Institute of Uganda and the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust! I must admit I am quite thrilled to be leaving cold, snowy Canada behind....at least for awhile...I will miss you all back home but I will write more as soon as I am settled....

  1. We love you...we'll miss you...but we are so very proud of you for making your lifelong dream a reality. Enjoy all the great people you are going to meet in Uganda(and the chimps too). Stay safe; stay healthy.

  2. Hope you're having a great time on your flight, even though you can't read this (or maybe you can). When you arrive in Uganda can you ask the chimps if they ever met Nim Chimpsky? Thanks!

ps. Watch out for the wallet inspector.

  4. Monkey Lady,

Thinking of you during your adventure and hoping you don't think the chimps are more civilized than me??? I know you gave your second cousin Lukas a book called "Good Night Gorilla" and it is his and my favorite read at bedtime. When I ask if he wants to read a book he searches and finds it and brings it to me ---that and "The Cat and Hat Comes Back". Anyway, I understand Africa is a beautiful country and your Uncle Fred confirmed as he has visited Southern Africa and found it spectacular. My hope is that you, too, find Uganda spectacular. Let the chimps know that I like them but find some of their habits vulgar just as they would find some of mine.
    Stay safe
    Love,
    Uncle Rick
